Forza Horizon 2: Storm Island Review

"Things got Stormy"

Campaign

It was interesting to see that a DLC pack adding something other than cars was going to be coming out rather soon for Forza Horizon 2 which I thoroughly enjoyed. Storm Island is basically what the title says, bringing a whole new landscape with fifty roads and a slew of new championships for you to conquer with many of them smashing against your vehicles with a variety of storms. Compared to the main core of Horizon 2, I saw this pack focus more on the off-road type of tracks with very little courses having any solid road a part of them. This created some very inclement weather scenarios which had cars flailing about across grass and fields. As far as playing championships and what they're about, it's about the exact same as the regular package with some minor track additions like lights or stacked tires. The biggest change to the pick and play championship system is the gauntlet challenge with some larger racing trucks having at it for a quick race to move into the next tier of selections. There was a fairly great amount of additional play here with many possible hours here as you race across this new island mass. Everything else you remember from Horizon 2 is also present here such as more bucket list items; secret boards, barn yard finds and more. New parts are also available for all vehicles to make any vehicle handle the rough terrain better than those stock parts.

The Conclusion

If you liked Forza Horizon 2 then you will definitely enjoy adding Storm Island to your game with a massive new island to drive about on and a bunch of new championships to win. Climb the various tiers and claim your worth at the vicious gauntlet challenges which more than likely will have extreme inclement weather. Yet again, much of this pack takes place on the off-roads and grass terrain creating a much more difficult driving atmosphere. At times the smaller space made me lose that sense of always hitting new roads, but it's still a solid amount of new tracks for some creative races to play. The ending sequence race was particularly well done and really highlighted the region quite well. Hit storm island in style with all your beautiful cars that you've collected thus far and some new ones waiting for you to get behind the wheel.
