Sunset Overdrive: Mooil Rig Review

"Sweet, though quite Short"

Campaign

I was really excited this morning to hear that the first part of the Sunset Overdrive Season Pass DLC had finally been released taking us to a new massive floating area. It was only a bit disappointing that I had finished the entire campaign expansion in about an hour including all of the two side missions it includes.

Not sure what I was expecting considering the size of the area, but it could have been dragged out longer as the world is great to play around in. The couple of levels played out much like the campaign before without any huge changes on the formula, it was really just extra playtime. Also ran into a few technical issues with some cutscenes and clipping inside of buildings which wasn't too big of a deal I suppose.

There are a handful of new moves added to your arsenal for sea movement, along with the rig section being a new grind fest for you to blow things up in. Changes to the OD were neat, but really just the same things mixed with oil or water attributes. The online component also is given a new area with more focused missions along the rig which were fun and well liked additions to the Chaos Mode. Yet again, really nothing huge in this regard and just an additional area to wage war against the OD in.

The Conclusion

Mooil is a great bit of extra campaign for those that enjoy Sunset Overdrive. There isn't a ton here for you to do, but you do get a solid hour of gameplay along with the potential extra multiplayer gameplay.

Nothing is really too different and your game won't be affected at all if you don't pick this up. It's just a sweet bit of more gameplay in a game we picked for Game of the Year this year, so definitely check out the core game if you haven't yet!
